"Painting is my opportunity to create a world that is more a dream than reality, a colorful mysterious destination where the familiar seems strange and the strange becomes familiar. My favorite themes include Suburbia, Civilization versus Nature, The Transforming Power of Love, and The Questioning of Domestic Rituals, none of which are meant to be related (but now that I think about it, could be the blueprint of an intriquing new painting!)."

Andrée Tracey is a fine art painter and photographer whose works have been widely exhibited and collected, including such venues as the Walker Art Center, the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Following her graduation from the University of Iowa, she spent a number of years working in Los Angeles where she was inspired by the tropical light, the "anything can happen here" mentality and the fantasy of Hollywood's cinematic culture. In 1991 she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she continues to create artwork that is a mixture of whimsy, social comment, and surreal narratives.

She has received fellowships from the California Community Foundation, the Polaroid Corporation, the McKnight Foundation, and Arts Midwest. Her graphic art clients include Frankie & Johnny, Target, American Express, Smith & Hawkin, Macy's, BMW, Purina, Hormel and others.
